Carmel homes boast a wealth of different styles of architecture, everything is unique, which adds to its charm. The one I am featuring above is my absolute favourite! Looking at it, one really could be in Tuscany or Provence, so authentic, charming and ‘old’, I think it is quite beautiful!
Carmel-by-the-sea’s shaded, tree lined streets, are neatly packed with a range of tiny ‘chocolate boxes’, ‘fairy tale’ cottages, smart contemporaries, Mediterranean villas, cool looking 1960 – 70’s concepts and then the simply bizarre! Along Scenic Drive, on the spectacular ocean front, the million dollar homes are often grander but still a myriad of designs. Many are second homes, most are loving groomed and tended. Peppered in between, it is still possible to find something that needs a great deal of ‘T.L.C,’ but the opportunity to find a true bargain is virtually non existence. Property in Carmel is so highly sought after and so expensive that any ‘California fixer upper’ is probably a tear down, most homes which have seen better days are replaced, albiet with a very high price tag!
No matter how many times I wander the streets and avenues of Carmel it is always fun to ‘window shop’ the houses, wonder who lives there, who stays there, what it would be like to live there and what stories each could tell you! Here are some that have caught my eye.
A recent a take on a ‘Hansel and Gretel ‘cottage?
Fairy tale charm…….
